This course provides 55 hours of instruction covering basic and intermediary Italian. It is taught in Italian and supposes no previous knowledge of this language.

A. General Objectives:

The principal scope of this course is to give ILS students the basic instruments so they are familiar with the Italian language and can use it both in Italy and when they return to their home institution. During the lessons, students are encouraged to learn vocabulary as well as express their thoughts and emotions in Italian. Special attention is also given to the logic, grammar, and syntax of the Italian language. Like all the other ILS coureses, it is meant to be a practical help to the students so they can practice Italian in their daily life while in Rome.
